Lake Overholser is home to Oklahoma City's newest sensational recreational hot spot, Route 66 Park, on the west side of the lake at 9901 NW 23. Park features include: - The Parks and Recreation Department's largest playground
- Cyrus Avery Observation Tower (three stories tall)
- Route 66 Plaza
- Small amphitheatre (accommodates 80 - 100 people seated)
- Approximately one mile of winding walking trails
- Three ponds containing wetland boardwalks, bridges, plantings and interpretive signage
- Covered picnic pavilion
A stamped map depicting the historic Mother Road's route from Chicago to Santa Monica is featured in the park's Route 66 Plaza. Thirty-four landmarks from Lincoln's birthplace in Springfield to the Harvey House in Barstow, California are featured along the eight-state map.
